On February 13, the Japanese company Sumitomo Electric Industries announced that it planned to expand its vanadium redox battery (VRB) business in the United States. The company is now contemplating the possibility of building a VRB manufacturing system in North America with an initial investment of about USD7.6 million for setting up local production and equipment installment.
