Surefire Concludes Environmental Survey At Victory Bore Vanadium Project

Australian mineral exploration company Surefire Resources has concluded an environmental survey at its Victory Bore vanadium project in Western Australia (WA).

In November 2022, the company engaged Onshore Environmental Consultants to carry out detailed flora and vegetation surveys and a desktop vertebrate fauna assessment at the project within the Murchison bioregion.

Surefire said that of the 203 plant taxa from 38 families and 98 genera recorded from the study area, none were listed as threatened flora.

It further noted that of the eight vegetation types recorded, none were listed as threatened, with vegetation conditions ranging from ‘very good’ to ‘degraded’.

In addition, vegetation is said to have been altered by disturbances such as historical mine exploration and cattle grazing.

None of the five introduced species found in the study area were classified as declared plants under WA’s Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007.

Surefire managing director Paul Burton called the survey completion a “significant milestone”.

Burton stated: “We are pleased that the area has no impediments and we will now continue to progress this to the next stage of being awarded a mining licence.

“This good news comes at a time of increasing vanadium prices and increasing awareness and uptake of vanadium redox batteries, which bodes well for Surefire shareholders.”

Surefire’s approval process for the project is moving ahead, along with a pre-feasibility study and test work to assess the potential for high-purity aluminium oxide production.
