Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices stay at low level

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 May 18 – Mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy stand at RMB280,000-283,000/t (USD56.95-57.56/kg V) delivered D/A six months now, down by RMB1,000/t (USD0.20/kg V) from last week. As upstream raw material vanadium pentoxide prices keep firm, vanadium-nitrogen alloy producers generally gain few profits and some enterprises operate with loss. Market participants believe that vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices have reached the bottom line and it is expected that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would begin rebounding in the coming week.

A producer in North China claimed that they offer RMB283,000/t (USD57.56/kg V) delivered D/A six months for vanadium-nitrogen alloy now, down by RMB1,000/t (USD0.20/kg V) from last week. He said, “Now prices for raw material vanadium pentoxide flake always stay at high level, so unilaterally decreased vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices have almost led to loss. According to cost keeping, our current offer is the bottom line and we refuse orders at lower prices.” The source expected that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would reach the bottom and then pick up in the coming week.
