Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy market sees high prices but few deals

Date: Sep 18, 2018

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Sep 18 – Due to the tight supply for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy currently, most producers cannot accept new orders in September, so the market sees high prices but few deals. The mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy stand at RMB450,000-453,000/t (USD85.07-85.64/kg V) Inc-VAT EXW D/P, up by RMB13,000/t (USD2.46/kg V) from last week. In view of the tight supply for the raw material vanadium pentoxide, prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy are expected to keep rising in the coming week.

A producer in South China claimed that they stop quotation for vanadium-nitrogen alloy as they have no stocks in hand now. He noted, “We can only supply for the regular customers who have cooperated with us for a long time because of the shortage of raw material now. We will not accept the orders from new or regular customers in September, and will decide whether to accept orders or not in early October according to our delivery of orders.” The source revealed that the guide price they give to the regular customer is RMB450,00/t (USD85.07/kg V) at present. He predicted that Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy price would rise to RMB460,00/t (USD86.96/kg V) in the coming week.
