On December 29, China’s Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council issued a notice to adjust the import and export tariffs on some commodities from January 1, 2023, according to the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Import and Export Duties. It was mentioned that export tariffs would continue to be imposed on 106 commodities, such as ferrochrome, ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, and silicomanganese, and export tariffs on aluminum and some aluminum alloys would be lifted. From January 1, 2023, China will implement provisional import duties lower than the MFN rates on 1,020 commodities and impose zero tariff on potash fertilizer and unwrought cobalt.
