Karwar MLA Satish Sail to appear before SIT today

It is reported that the special investigation team (SIT) probing illegal mining cases has summoned Karwar MLA Satish Sail to appear before it on Monday in connection with the Rs 35,000-crore scam. Crime branch superintendent of police (SP) Karthik Kashyap told TOI “Karwar MLA would be questioned about alleged illegal mining activities/exports of iron ore in Goa during 2007-2012. “
He said Sail had bought ore from one Philip Jacob, a trader, who was earlier arrested by the SIT. The SP said Sail was earlier investigated by the CBI in connection with illegal mining in Karnataka.
Police said the notice for appearance was delivered to Sail, who is also the director of Mallikarjun Shipping Private Limited, at his residence in Sadashivgad, Karwar, by PI Dattaguru Sawant.
