Henan Provincial Investment Smart Energy 40MW/240MWh All-vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage Project Started

On the morning of August 15th, according to the unified arrangement and deployment of Henan Provincial Party Committee and Jiaozuo Municipal Party Committee, Jiaozuo City held the ninth phase of the province’s “three batches” event in the Economic and Technological Development Zone——Henan Provincial Investment Smart Energy Co., Ltd. 40MW/240MWh opening ceremony of the all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage project. Wang Jiapeng, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Jiaozuo Municipal People’s Congress and secretary of the Qinyang Municipal Party Committee, announced the start of the project. City leaders Liu Yang, Zhu Baoping, Guo Junling, Wei Guobin, Ju Wei, and Chen Erlian attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The 40MW/240MWh all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage project of Henan Provincial Investment Smart Energy Co., Ltd. is an important layout for Provincial Investment Smart Energy to promote the “four revolutions, one cooperation” energy security strategy and help Henan Province build a new power system. The all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage technology has the advantages of intrinsic safety, ultra-long life, and environmental friendliness, and is the preferred technology for user-side energy storage power stations in large chemical parks.

Henan Investment Smart Energy Co., Ltd. is a holding company of Henan Science and Technology Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Henan Investment Group, with a registered capital of 201 million yuan. The main business is to build four main lines of energy storage + micro grid, 5G base station + micro grid, charging and swapping infrastructure construction, and comprehensive energy efficiency services.

The construction scale of the project is 40MW/240MWh, using all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage technology, with a total investment of about 800 million yuan. During the operation cycle, it is expected to realize revenue of about 3 billion yuan, total profit of about 350 million yuan, and tax revenue of about 150 million yuan. The design life of the system is 25 years. After completion, it will be the largest all-vanadium redox flow battery user-side energy storage power station in the country.

According to reports, the all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station is a water-based battery, and the main medium for storing energy is vanadium electrolyte, which performs electrochemical reactions under normal temperature and pressure conditions, without the hazards of combustion and explosion. At the same time, it can be recycled and does not pollute the environment.

It is understood that the 40MW/240MWh all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage project mainly adopts the mode of peak-shaving and valley-filling operation to reduce energy costs. Its all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage technology is the first choice for user-side energy storage power stations in large chemical parks, after the project is completed, it will be the largest all-vanadium redox flow battery user-side energy storage power station in the country. At the same time, the project itself will effectively reduce the energy consumption costs of enterprises in the chemical park in our city, provide enterprises with emergency power supply and power demand side response services, and improve the flexibility of power grid adjustment. In addition, it will also integrate with the city’s new energy battery industry, further promote the rational allocation of resources, optimize the city’s industrial layout, and provide a real-time, intelligent, and efficient comprehensive energy management smart brain for the construction of “three cities and one district”.

Liu Yang, deputy secretary of the Jiaozuo Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony, and Ju Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and executive deputy mayor, delivered a speech on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. Ju Wei pointed out that the start of construction of the Henan Provincial Investment Smart Energy Energy Storage Power Station Project is not only a practical action to thoroughly implement the new development concept, but also a concrete measure to implement the concept of “project is king” to promote high-quality development. This time, Jiaozuo City started 7 projects with a total investment of 5.7 billion yuan, covering multiple fields such as new infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, and will definitely play an important role in boosting the high-quality industrial development of the city.
