China’s Ulanqab Carries Out Rectification Campaign Against Backward Ferroalloy Capacity

China’s Ulanqab city has launched a rectification campaign against backward production capacity to further upgrade its ferroalloy industry. By the end of 2022, the city shut down all common alloy submerged arc furnaces, including 55 submerged arc furnaces and refining furnaces for a combined capacity of 1.34 million tonnes per year, equivalent to energy consumption of 2 million tonnes of standard coal. A total of 29 ferroalloy producers were closed completely.
